It all started at Merkala Beach… some fifteen years ago I joined a small german film team on the production of the film Paul Bowles-Halfmoon, based on short stories by the American writer. Through this film and its director Frieder Schlaich I met Paul Bowles, who became a major inspiration for the years to follow. I stuck to film making and kept on working in my home town Tangier. In 1997 I went to Germany and did my degree in film production at Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, Ludwigsburg, one of the most innovative film schools in Germany. Working as a production manager and line producer for various film companies in Stuttgart and Munich, I never missed out on an opportunity of a film project in Morocco or in the Arab world… until I finally settled back in Tangier in 2003 and founded my own film production company Kasbah-films Tangier ltd. In January 2006 it received the license agreement from the Moroccan cinematographic centre (the authorities in charge of all film industry legislation and regulation). Nicely located in the heart of Tangier, Kasbah-films Tangier offers production management and service for all kinds of film formats. In my own productions and co-productions of features and documentaries I want to focus on the two worlds, that I've come to know.Kasbah-films Tangier |
